New york hotel to be renovated into a spa

NEW YORK — The opening of a New York hotel will bring a spa treatment to a town with a reputation for its natural beauty.

In a statement Friday, hotel developers Triton Properties said it plans to open the Rittenhouse Spa at the site of the historic hotel at 1275 Broadway in downtown Manhattan, which was sold in 2005 to a group of investors.

The project will include a spa and fitness center with the capacity to house 20,000 visitors a day.

It will be the first such luxury hotel in New York City, according to the statement.

The company did not disclose the cost.

Triton also announced the construction of a hotel at the nearby New York Central Terminal, which is expected to open later this year.

It was unclear when that hotel would open.
